As seen with the map above, Belize is located on the top left part just Central and South America. The country sits on top of the North American plate and is located not far from the Cocos plate. It is near the junction of the North American and Caribbean plates. We can see on the map that it sits not far above from the Cayman Trough or otherwise known as the Bartlett Trough. This is an Oceanic fault zone pull apart trench which is near the Cayman Island and a part of Jamaica. This particular trough is around 7,686 metres or (25,217 ft).
The Carribean plate itself measures 3500 km in E-W and 1000 km in N-S while the North American plate is around 75,900,000 km2 or 29,300,000 sq
